The Benefits of a child minder
Child minders play an important role in giving parents a greater choice of high quality, flexible childcare and family support services. The combination of continuity of care and ability to offer one to one care makes child minders a good option for parents looking for childcare.
Child minders are a good choice of childcare because:
They provide a family environment
Most are flexible and work around your requirements
Can be a continued form of childcare even when your child starts school/nursery
I will provide a warm, friendly, safe, home environment with a family atmosphere in which I will include involvement in activities such as cooking, shopping, gardening, and family mealtimes and where your child can play, learn and develop. Children will receive consistent one-to-one attention whilst enjoying interaction with others. I appreciate you as the parents are the most important people in your child’s life and therefore will consult with you on all aspects of your child’s care.
Continuity of Care:
I provide a stable on going relationship with the child, in a loving family environment continuing from when they are a baby from six weeks old through to when they need care around schooling hours.
Registration
What does registration mean?
A Child minder MUST BY LAW register with the local Health and Social Services Trust. The purpose of registration is:
To protect children
To provide reassurance to parents using childcare
To ensure that childminding services meet acceptable standards
To achieve registration a Child minder is required to comply with standards of safety, equipment, numbers of children etc. The home environment is checked to ensure that it meets the standards required and that it is suitable to care for children. References and health checks are required as are police checks on all individuals in the household over the age of 16yrs. Following on from registration, child minders are inspected annually by Ofsted.
Local Health and Social Services offices keep a register of all child minders who have completed the registration process.
